This trip Began in the Annapolis, MD area in November on the leading edge of a cold front. We spent a week in Norfolk waiting for a good weather window. There were many late tropical storms that year. It took us 10 days to go direct from Norfolk to St Thomas 1156 nm. We started in cold weather gear and finished in bathing suits. The waves were typically 6-15' and winds were usually 15-25 knots. The "Horse Latitudes," where the wind does not blow, were the most frustrating part of the trip. The night sky was incredible, the milky way, shooting stars, constellations, an occasional lightning show in the distance. The 15,000' deep water is beautiful. Walking on dry land was hilarious when we arrived in St. Thomas.
