Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama Canal, Jamaica, Dominican Republic and British Virgin Islands

The Adventures of Captain Pete and Friends.

In February Kathleen and Rick decided to join me on this adventure starting in Monzanilla, MX just south of Puerto Vallarta. We visited several towns on the Pacific coast of Mexico, Costa Rica, and Panama. We then beat into the trade winds to Kingston Jamaica, Dominican Republic and the British Virgin Islands. We were sailing a 2005 49' Jeanneau loaded with all the comforts. Rick and Kathleen are both excellent sailors with whom I have sailed before many times. Rick loves to race catamarans and keeps us on our toes trimming the sails just right. Kathleen is a Sergeant is the US Army and is currently serving in Afghanistan. She also speaks fluent Spanish which was a major help on this trip. We ate well, saw many countries, met many new people, and I also was able to visit my lifelong friend David and his family, who now lives in Costa Rica. Jamaica was fun this trip, once again I enjoyed not only the beauty of the Dominican Republic but also the people. I think the Virgin Islands will always remain near the top of my list of favorite areas to visit. We were also lucky to have 7 days to visit Panama while waiting for our time to transit the canal. This trip covered 3200 nm and took about five weeks including the week we spent in Panama. The owners of this boat are now enjoying some great sailing in the Caribbean.
